Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin

how do I get a felony conviction lifted from my record ?

I was convicted of felony non payment of child support in Wisconsin on June23 2004. My sentence was 5 years probation. I was released from supervision on June 23 2009. I am finding it extremely difficult to find meaningful employment beyond labor hall/day labor work. I can't get hired on by any fast food restaurants or off shore drilling companies because of my low level felony conviction. My questions are these... Is it legal for an employer to deny me employment based solely on a criminal conviction/ And how can I go about getting the felony removed from my record or even reduced down to a misdemeanor ?

If you have a straight felony conviction (not deferred adjudication), then you cannot have it removed or reduced, short of petitioning the governor for a pardon.

Yes, it is legal for an employer to deny a job to someone based on a criminal record.

This has nothing to do with Texas law. You need to contact a lawyer in Wisconsin.
