Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
Felony
I have a conviction of a felony from 1990. I have 2 young boys that I would like to take deer hunting, but cannot be in the possession of a firearm. What do I have to do to be able to do so? I really don't care if I can go deer hunting, just so I can be with them when they go?

Re: Felony
You should try filing a motion with your sentencing judge to reinstate your firearms privileges. You have a good reason and the case is quite old, so it could work for you.
Expungement of Felony Conviction to Permit Hunting
You need to retain an experienced criminal defense lawyer who can explore ways of attempting to attack your conviction. Short of that, they only way to clear a felony conviction in WI is to apply to the governor for a pardon, which is extremely difficult to obtain. The same lawyer will probably be able to assist you with that process. Finally, it may be legal for you to hunt deer be means other than a firearm, such as with a bow and arrow. Good luck!
