Is writting a stolen check for $500.00 out of someone's account a felony?

Is Forging Checks a Felony?
Felony "forgery" occurs any time one passes a forged instrument with intent to defraud, whether or not the check was stolen. It is punishable by prison. The amount of the check does not change this--even a $1.00 forged check is still a felony.
