You should immediately retain your own attorney. Neither your husband's attorney nor the DA have much, if any, duty to protect you, and, in many circumstances, opposing lawyers would have a duty to protect their respective clients even at the expense of a witness or other concerned person. You may have substantial rights and privileges which protect you in this situation, but you should consult with your attorney and allow him or her to investigate thoroughly before making any decisions. Playing your cards "wrong" or without proper safeguards could also potentially expose you to liability in many different ways, either by testifying or even by not doing so. I am not yet your attorney and will not be taking any action on your case, but you are still welcome to contact me during business hours at my in Racine if you still have more questions.
