Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
Juvenile alcohol consumption
I have a 17 year old friend from Wisconsin in some trouble. She was at a party where alcohol was being consumed, apparently with the knowledge of the parent (who was home at the time). The police were called and were allowed to enter the home. She admitted to having a few sips of beer and was given a citation and allowed to leave the house. Apparently in Wisconsin there is a difference between 'consumption'of alcohol and 'posession'. I am trying to determine the difference between these, to determine which is more serious, and to find out what the possible consequences could be for each (raised auto insurance, fines, etc.)

Juvenile Alcohol Consumption
Sir:
I am not licensed to practice law in Wisconsin. You should contact an attorney there. Laws differfrom state to state. You might want to look atthe juvenile citation, reference the statutethat your friend is charged under, go to the publiclibrary and look up the maximum penalties.
Also, you might try calling the Public Defendersin the county where she resides or your local countyBar Association. Sorry I can't be of more help.
