Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
Juvenile Questioning
Ourlocal police dept. suspected my 14 year old son of paintballing some homes and cars in the area. They sent a detective to school to question him. He admitted to being involved. They never contacted me to let me know what was going on, I contacted them 2 days later when my son told me he had been questioned. Can they legally question him without first informing me since he is a minor?

Re: Juvenile Questioning
There are no Wisconsin laws specifically
forbiding officers from questioning a minor
without parental consent. Lack of access
to a parent during questioning, however,
can be considered by the court during a motion
to supress the statement.
