However, there are some lawyers who work for legal aid agencies and are paid for their time by those agencies; if you are truly broke, you should check with Legal Action of WI or other similar local agency for civil matters and the WI State Public Defender's Office for criminal ones. Unless you are on welfare, however, you will probably not qualify for free services under their guidelines.
