Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
Municipal conviction - record or not
I plead no contest to a municipal harrassment charge two years ago. How long will
this remain on my record? It was not a felony or misdemeanor.

Re: Municipal conviction - record or not
Your local police department will generally maintain all their
records for at least 10 years, and thereafter on
microfilm or digital storage. It is easy to order
your history with any given police department and
see exactly what it shows. If you were printed, the
FBI crime computer system will retain your prints and mug
shot forever. Of course, an ordinance conviction
is not the same as a criminal conviction. Give me
a call at 262-633-3090 if you need further assistance,
or send a private e-mail with your number and I
will get back to you.
