Police Employment--Disqualified Due to Misdemeanor Conviction?
I am not an expert in employment law. However, I have heard of officers continuing to work after conviction for minor offenses, provided that they have addressed any personal problems which lead to the conviction. My guess is that the circumstances of the conviction would be closely reviewed by any law enforcement employer in order to make sure the person did not have long term problems with overly aggressive behavior. The officer would generally be required to undergo a psychological evaluation before returning to work.
