Probation
If a person on probation is unaware of the rules and regulations of probation and was not given and did not sign ne statement of rules is it possible to avoid punishment?

I would find it incredible that the probation department would not get your signature on the rules. If they did not, and you truly did not know the rules, then you would likely have a viable defense as to an infraction. However, you were probably given certain conditions by the judge at sentencing that you are still liable for and certainly any new violations of law could be prosecuted.
