Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin

Probation Revocation

My boyfriend was arrested 3 weeks ago for DUI and probation violation. He just saw his po and was told she is recommending he go to jail for 6 months. He already signed the revocation hearing waiver. Is there anything a lawyer could do at this point to help get his time reduced? He has not gone to court yet. He was on probation for bail jumping and possession of marijuana. He is not a violent offender or flight risk.

Re: Probation Revocation

Yes,

A lawyer can probably get the process sped up and negotiate a better deal with the judge. Just because the PO is recommending 6 months doesn't mean the case is worth 6 months. In low level probation cases the biggest hurdle is frequently getting the DOC to finish the paperwork and getting the revoked probationer back in court. A lawyer can help tremendously.
