Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
Recording phone conversations
I have recently been having heated conversations with a collections agency regarding a mistake on their part. Due to the many different answers I get and number of people I speak with, is it legal to tape the conversations? Will not be doing so until I hear from you, but had always thought it was legal as long as one of the parties was privy to the recording. The Linda Tripp situation seems to contradict that. Please let me know if and how I may record these discussions in order to protect myself from a company covering up a mistake.

Re: Recording phone conversations
You always have the right to tape your
own conversations. Using them later can
be another question. To resolve all doubt, ask
permission early in the conversation.
