Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
I have a restraining order which was dismissed against me but it returns in my background check and on Wisconsin CCAP database and website. Should I talk to the DA or a judge about getting this information suppressed? I cannot get an expungement since I was never convicted of a crime.

In WI, there is no easy way that I am aware of to remove convictions from the public records in the state court records database which you mention; they literally will follow you for life. There are exceptions for cases which were dismissed or where a person was found not guilty, but the requirements are difficult and you will probably need to hire an attorney in order to succeed. There has been debate in Madison about changing this but I am not aware of any new laws which have resulted from these discussions which make it easier to remove conviction records. My comments are not not legal advice but are instead limited to public educational purposes. I am not your attorney and will be taking no action on your case.
