Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
Talking to a 16 yo on the phone.
I am 24 years old and met a 16 year old that i want to get to know better. i have agreed to wait until they are 18 before i meet them in person, but i want to know if there is any law against me talking to them on the phone. I don't see what it can hurt, just talking on the phone but there are some weird laws, so i just wanted to ask, i am in wisconsin and they are in michigan.
thanks!

Re: Talking to a 16 yo on the phone.
It depends upon what you plan to say! There are plenty of ways to get into trouble with anyone, (whether an adult or a minor) using nothing more than the telephone, including enticement, solicitation of an illegal act, harassment, violation of court orders, extortion, conspiracy, wire fraud, etc. In fact, most crimes in existence can be initiated with nothing more than a phone call, regardless of where you live or where the person on the other end of the phone line lives. If you can clarify what you intend to do over the phone with the 16 year old, I would be happy to further clarify my answer.
