Legal Question in Criminal Law in Wisconsin
what to do about traffic tickets
I have received two speeding tickets within the last six months in the state of Wisconsin. Each garnering four points. Now a total of eight points on my record. In the state of Wisconsin you are allowed a total of twelve points in a calendar year. My concern is if I get one more ticket prior to the "year" I may lose my licsense. I have been told by friends to show up at the court date to hopefully have the points reduced. They claim just by showing up they sometimes will reduce the points. Or to call the city atty prior to the court date and try to get the points reduced without going to the court date. Are either of these suggestions a logical option, if so, how would I go about it ie.: what to say to the city atty, etc. Or would I be best to just pay the fine, be cautious not to get another citation and hope for the best? Thank you for any help you may be able to offer.

speeding ticket points
The main thing to reduce the points is to get a resolution that changes either the number of points or the timing of the points. I suggest you talk to the prosecutor about a deferred sentence agreement, defensive driving school instead of a conviction, or timing your plea of guilty to a date over a year past the time of your first speeding conviction. You might also slow down.
What to do about traffic tickets
1. Always contest a traffic ticket. It isbest to hire a lawyer to do it because a law-yer can get the best available deal for you.
2. If you don't have a lawyer, call TicketDefense Services at 1-800-444-4424 and tellClyde you were referred on the internet andhe could get more referrals if he has his ownwebsite. (I do work for Clyde in Ohio and amable to resolve many moving violations as no-point, non-moving violations.)
