Will my child be punished by law if she lys about sex offenxe

My daughter(15 almost 16) lied about a sex offense that was comited about her father backfired when I took her the police station to turn him in she was afraid to tell me now so she went trough with it and went to the das office. he is in jail for 2 weeks now and charged with the crime and now she tells me the truth that it didnt happen she just wanted for me to kick him out. my question is can she be punished by the law for this?

She can be charge with providing a false reprot. In most cases, such a charge will result in little more than a slap on the wrist.

Yes, she could be. The crime would be Obstructing an Officer which is esstentially giving false information. It is a class A misdemeanor with maximums of 9 months jail and/or a $10,000 fine. Whether she would actually be charged would be up to the prosecutor entirely. That could only be known with amore thorough examination of the facts and, importantly, whether she has ever done this before.
