OWI Fourth Offense Penalties

You need to retain an experienced traffic/criminal attorney as soon as possible, since this is a gravely serious charge. In most of WI, the minimum penalty for 4th offense drunk driving is 60 days in jail. Winnebago County has different penalty system allowing lesser penalties for those who successfully complete a probation/treatment program. The maximum is one year in jail. Depending upon how high the .BAC (blood alcohol content) and how bad the driving, most defendants will receive nearly a year in jail if convicted. Voluntarily seeking treatment for alcoholism prior to sentencing and community service (such as succesfully sponsoring others in an alcoholics annonymous group) can reduce the sentence.
