child custody and child support

I am a single mother of a 4 year old child. We live with my boyfriend and he is also my son's father. My boyfriend did sign paternity papers at the time of our son's birth. I am planning on moving out of my boyfriend house, will I have to get a lawyer to fill for any custody rights and child support?

If he did not sign any Recongition of Parentage, you be default become the custodial parent. By the same token, he would not have any court ordered requirement to pay child support. You would have to commence a paternity proceeding
