Can you purchase property if you have recently filed for divorce and its not final yet.Would the spouse be entitled to the property?

The valuation date for assets under Wisconsin law is the date of the final trial in the divorce or final hearing in divorce.
That means that anything acquired before that date could be considered to have a marital value and would be presumed to have a marital value. That does not mean that a court could not deteremine that one party contributed more to its acquisition and therefore it should not be divided equally.
