Re: divorce or separation?

Hello,

Both separation and divorce are legal proceedings that result in a final divison of assets and debts and a resolution of custody support.

However, in most situations people choose divorce, because with a separation if you change your mind and want to end the marriage, then you have to refile again for divorce. Most people avoid the extra expenses and if they might reconcile, try counselling and delay the final hearing on the divorce to some extent. Unfortunately, however, it is not possible to lay out the pros and cons well enough in this message to give you proper guidance on which way to go in your case. You should get a free initial consultation from a local lawyer who can get you started down the right path. Best wishes, and keep the faith! Mark J. Mahoney 920-984-4529
