Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin
Grandparents contact
My daughter is currently under auspices of Social Services because my 9 y/o grandson called police to report her leaving him and 6 y/o sister home alone. Daughter has since refused us any contact with grandchildren. She lied to police about number of days kids left alone. (We raised my grandson first 2-1/2 years of his life so this is certainly upsetting. Her new husband (not biological father) is also prohibiting us contact. Biological father has also been prohibited contact. Before the call to 911 was made, kids said they did not want to stay with the mother. This is now 30 days of the 60 day period of social services. What is the best way for us to proceed? Can mother intercept registered mail for children legally? (birthday card to be enclosed). She has been returning mail unopened to bio father. Thank you.

Re: Grandparents contact
You would have to seek to intervene and seek custody as the gransdparents in family Court, not juvenile court where the matter is currently being heard. You have standing by virtue of your care for the child in the past.
