Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin

Can she move the child accross state lines?

My wife and I have been seperated for 6 years.. for the last year I have been living with the child.. I live in Wisconsin, She in Illinois.. We have no papers claiming who has custody.. No papers at all about antrhing. She thinks she can move the child in with her with out my consent.. Is this true or do I have any legal right? The child was born in Wisconsin and has lived there all his life( 9 years old). This question is the simplified version.. Alltogether it is very complicated..

Hello,

My experience is that in most cases the person wanting to take children out of state and change the placement has to notify you and the court and a hearing is held. However, I do not know all your facts. You should confirm this with a quick call to a lawyer who can assist you with this if necessary. Best wishes, Mark J. Mahoney
