Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin
In regards to an out-of-state move with children
I am mother of twin girls...me and the girls' father have joint custody. We've never been married and for the last year he hasn't paid support, nor visited, called ect. I have a fiance who lives in Florida and I'd like to move there from Wisconsin. I've already sent out letter notifying the girls father of my move and stating he has 15 days to object or agree to such notion. I have been told if he does not come through in those said 15 days...(showing no interest in such request)...that I have then the right to move...is this true? ALSO...the father has been contacting me on instant messenger...telling me that if I sleep with him and give him just ''10 minutes of his time'' he will with no doubt in his mind sign the papers allowing me to move. Isn't that blackmail and against the law? And if I show proof of this IF indeed we have to bring this matter into court, will that alone have any effect on the decision of the court commissioner?

Re: In regards to an out-of-state move with children
It is accurate that if:
(1) you sent a proper notice including all details related to the proposed relocation; and if
(2) the other party does not respond within the statutory time period for an objection;
you may relocate with the child. however, you should also attempt to discuss parenting schedules.
