Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin
Sister found possible birth mother
We live in Ill., My sister in WI. She knows a 17 year old possibly giving up her baby. She is going to let her know my husband and I would be interested. What should we be aware of? When should we get a lawyer? What are complexities of interstate adoption? Should she/we talk to the birth mother? My husband and I have 1 adopted child already. She was adopted through Ill. DCFS. So it was a whole different process.

Re: Sister found possible birth mother
You need a lawyer as soon as possible after you learn that you are adopting. Since ythe birth mother and the child will be in Wisc. you'll have to adopt there.
