Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin
Substitute judge for divorce
I've been to court twice and the judge has basically given my ex-wife most of everything we had. He has ordered me to pay an amount of maintenance that everyone says was unfair to me. I have changed jobs now and have a reduction in income. I need to go back to court to get the maintenance reduced but I am afraid I'll just get stuck with all the lawyer bills again and he won't reduce it. Can I ask for a different judge to hear my case. We have one other judge available.

I'm licensed in Tennessee, not Wisconsin, but I've never heard of a state where you can get a new judge on a case simply because you do not like the decisions of the original judge.
If he makes some sort of improper statement on the record, you might use that to get the judge to recuse himself (meaning take himself off of the case), but generally that's about it.
