Legal Question in Family Law in Wisconsin
Hi, I was wondering out of curiosity if a parent causing (intentionally or by doing what they see as doing no harm) depression in a minor and then failing to provide medical treatment for the mental illness was grounds for emancipation. Depression runs in the aforementioned family and all signs and symptoms of clinical depression are there. Assuming that the minor had a job, a place to stay if it came to that point, other people willing to help them if they ended up not being able to support themselves, and was enrolled in school, would that be enough for a judge to grant emancipation in the state of Wisconsin?

Emancipation is rare in Wisconsin. I have only seen it occur when the child was the problem and refusing to be directed by the parents. It has only come at the parents request.
It is possible that CPS will appoint a guardian for the child when these circumstances justify. Try contacting them.
