This is a short simple question, but difficult to answer without more facts. Your employer is entitled in some cases to proof of your medical situation, but that is different from a doctor's excuse like one might get for grade school or even sick leave. You need to consult with an employment law attorney, give him or her the facts of your situation, and then work out what you need to do.
