Legal Question in Civil Litigation in Wisconsin

I recently obtained a rental car for a friend, and they returned the car with cosmetic damages. I also received a notice of a toll violation, in which I had to pay out of pocket. I am now liable to pay the full cost of the damages, and wondering if I have any grounds to sue my friend? I signed a contract with the rental car company stating that I wouldn't allow anybody else to drive the vehicle, but admitted to them that somebody else was driving it.

Yes, renting a car for someone else is always a very bad idea. It not only violates the rental contract but makes you liable for any illegal activity committed by the driver. In addition to damage to other vehicles or people, unpaid tolls and parking tickets, your liability could even extend to robberies or drive by shootings in which the driver was involved.

Do not assume that I am your attorney because of my response here.
