The jurisdiction of U.S. Federal District Courts is limited to questions involving federal law or "diversity jurisdiction" involving parties in multiple states where a certain minimum amount of money ($150,000, I believe) is involved. Federal court is much more expensive than state court, generally speaking, as well as being much for formal with more specific technical requirements before any case can go forward. Therefore, federal court may prove a far more difficult place for any litigant to succeed in. Since I know nothing about your case, I cannot comment further or advise you on anything specific. My comments here are not intended as legal advice for you, unless you subsequently retain me a revisit this issue with me. Good luck!
