Legal Question in Immigration Law in Wisconsin

If someone from England came to Wisconsin by way of a Fiance Visa, and got married within the 90 days, does this automatically grant them Wisconsin Citizenship? Is there even a difference between Wisconsin and U.S. Citizenship?

No, that does not give them citizenship or a green card. They must file adjustment of status. My offices can advise you on this process. Please email, [email protected]

There is no State Citizenship. And, even if they got married with in the 90 day period, the foreign spouse still must file for adjustment of status & be interviewed & approved by USCIS before he/she becomes U.S. conditional resident. Then, they (the married couple) need to file to remove the condition within 90 days of the conditional residency expiration date. Once he/she becomes a U.S, legal permanent resident, the person can file for U.S. naturalization 3 years after the original date of approval (if still married to the U.S, citizen at that time).
