Any attorney will say you need to consult with a copyright attorney for advice in protecting your music. There are a number of options to copyright your songs. The best is generally to register the song with the U.S. Copyright Office. Here there are different options - registration as a Sound Recording or as a Performing Art - each protects something different. Consult with a copyright attorney in your area for specifics.
