Buying trademarked logo?

Hi

I want to trademark my logo to put on tee shirts. Another guy has trademarked a simular logo here in Wisconsin but I don't see it nationaly. I think he has given up on using his logo for bumper stickers and shirts. My question is, I would like to offer to buy his trademarked logo so then there is no conflict when I use mine. How would I go about doing this? What steps should I take? Any information would be greatly appreciated.

You should have an IP attorney do a search to confirm validity. Then have the atty contact TM holder to seek permission or offer licensing/purchase potential.
