Legal Question in Employment Law in Wisconsin

fired from a contracted job

I was given a one year contract to be a paint supervisor at a shipyard in WI. I moved my family from CT , costing me more than $12,000- literally all of my savings.

I was to shadow my mentor for 2 weeks, and then be assigned my crew. After 4.5 days I was fired. I was completely shocked as I got along well with everyone I had met. The reason given was tardiness. I was late my second day as we had 12 inches of snow- I left 45 minutes early (I had an 82 mile commute) and traffic was cut down to one lane. I was not even given a verbal warning. The rest of the week was fine.

I believe that a family member whom we turned in for Welfare fraud contacted my employer and made up lies about me.

I had a one year contract at $35/hr from a placement agency. There are not any comparable jobs pay wise here that I am qualified for. I have a one year lease of $1400 month.

I wasn't even given a chance to perform my duties. I held the same position in CT for many years, and the company had a huge lay-off in September. Do I have a right to sue the shipyard or the placement agency?
