My husband was fired, they had a lawyer present to do this.On the heading of the termination paper it was addresses to my husband and family. My husband was the only one from are family that was in attendance. We live on an estate and now we have only 7 days to move if my husband is to get his severance pay.He was forced out by the property manager,by making false statements to get him terminated, she never liked him to begin with. They want us to sign a paper,we have 21 days to do so,stating we will not come after anyone affiliated with this place,is all this legal?

Re: fired and 7 days to move
Hello,
Sorry to hear about your plight. In general, in Wisconsin employment law is tough on employees: you can be fired for no reason or any reason, and there is little you can do about it. And employers can put conditions on severance pay.
Did he point out the false statements to the owners? Sometimes the only options that exist are appeal within the employer. Because I dont know all the facts of your situation, I cannot give you a firm legal opinion that you can rely on. You should give a couple lawyers in your area a call and they will likely give you a free consultation over the phone to see if there are any arguments you can make. Good luck, Mark J. Mahoney
