Invastion of privacy and discrimination at work

I am an Inn keeper at a local bed and breakfast. I have worked here for about a year. Recentley I was away from the front desk doing something in the back of the inn. My manager was at the front desk. I had left my journal at the front desk. While I was away my manager picked up my journal and read it. He knew that the journal belonged to me. My name was clearly printed on the inside cover of the journal and he has also seen me with it several times. There were several private thoughts and expeircenes that he read about. Some of these displeased him. He shared this information with other co workers of mine. These co workers notifyed me of what he had done. I have also been notifyed that my manager plans on trying to do everything in his power to fire me. He plans on doing this by finding things that I do wrong with my job due to the fact that he cannot fire me based on what is in my journal. He does not know that I know about what he has done. There must be something I can do to protect myself and/or possibley get him in serious trouble for what he did. Thank you for reading and answering this question.

Hello,

It is difficult to answer this question without all the facts, going only on what you have written. However, it is doubtful you can do much legally about his journal reading, and if wants to fire you he can do so for almost any reason or no reason. My suggestion is to contact the owners, let them know what the manager is up to. You wont win any points with the manager for that, but you dont get along anyway. Maybe the owners will come to your aid.
