pay reduction, but same job

Can an employer offer you a 50% pay reduction when he says he can't support your salary because he feels you are not closing enough deals (after 3&1/2 months on the job in an untapped territory by this company), but expect the same job performance and quotas. Additionally, if you do not accept he then fires you.
