Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Wisconsin
my landlord is trying to say I owe back pay from a period of 8yrs. what should I do?

I would recommend a free initial consultation for this or any other unsecured debt. Of course, if you still live in the same property, the landlord could easily terminate you tenancy immediately after the bankruptcy for reasons unrelated to your discharge of the bank rent, but the savings would probably be great enough to justify the trouble of moving. For a total cost in the range of $1500-$2,000., you can probably avoid paying what is probably something relative to $40-60K in back rent. My answer does not automatically make me your attorney, so you need to consult with your own attorney before acting upon any of my comments and may contact my office at 333 Main St, Racine, WI 53403, 262-633-3090, during business hours, or see me on the web at www.jayknixonlaw.com, for further clarification.
