Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Wisconsin
Security deposit fraud!!
After having moved out of my apartment for six weeks I sent a letter requesting my security deposit. The following week I received a letter from the landlord stating bogus damage claims. They included replacing carpet that was in terrible condition when I moved in and at least 10 years old. Furthermore in an attempt to manipulate the system she dated the letter Nov. 15th, which was fifteen days after I moved, when she really first sent the letter Dec 23rd. How will a judge handle this if she can't prove she sent the letter within 15 days and I can't prove I didn't receive it?

Re: Security deposit fraud!!
Did you save the envelope? THe postmark would help a judge./
Also, when did you move out, and when did you provide a forwarding address? THat's when the clock starts.|
I've been a landlord 25 years.
