Legal Question in Landlord & Tenant Law in Wisconsin
My sister left some personal belongings at my dad's house in a small trailer about 5 years ago. We have notified her several times to come get it. Does she have any legal right to it or is it now considered abandoned property?

Her rights depend upon the terms of your father's storage agreement or other understanding with her. WI law permits landlords to insert a provision in their leases allowing property left behind to be considered abandoned and to therefore lawfully dispose of it. If your father had such an understanding with your sister, he too could dispose of it, but I would recommend a certified letter warning of his intent to do that beforehand.
