Employment Contract

I entered into a contract with J.L. Kirk in March 2007 for three years of professional service at a cost of $4200. In October of 2007 I had my last contact with them and when I went to their office in December, they were gone. They changed their name to Professional Partners in September and I don't know where they are located. There are several other people that I know of that are in the same situation. At the very least, could we sue for the remiander of the contract that they are no longer providing?

Lost Contractor Operating Under New Name

While I know nothing of the party you mention, as a general matter, when a business continues to operate but merely changes its name, it may be a "successor." Depending upon how the transfer of assets from the old entity to the new one was handled, the new entity may or may not be liable for the debts of the old one.
