Legal Question in Medical Malpractice in Wisconsin

getting a uterus infection is this malpractice

I recently gave birth to my beautiful baby girl, having no problems during labor. Two weeks later I came down with a uterus infection. Many people are telling me that this should not have happened and to have a lawyer fight this. This being a four day hospital stay due to the infection.

Re: getting a uterus infection is this malpractice

Getting an infection secondary to delivery is not necessarily negligence-related, although it could be. Unless you have damages in the range of $40,000 to $70,000 this is not a case an attorney is going to be able to handle for you. This is because to try the case and get it ready for trial will cost between $10,000 and $30,000 with experts, and the like. So you don't want to spend that kind of money just to recover it back with a few dollars change. This is an economic reality of medical malpractice cases.

I would urge you to have your case reviewed by a local attorney and let him tell you what he thinks. You may have more significant damages than you know, particularly if you have uterine scarring or similar long-term effects from the infection.
