Legal Question in Military Law in Wisconsin

Traveling While AWOL

I read the post on interstate flying with a bench warrant but wasn't sure if the answer was the same when flying with an NCIC (National Crime Information Center) federal warrant.

I have a friend who is AWOL from the Army and is looking to turn his self in to Fort Sill as soon as possible. He doesn't want to drive though and is looking into flying or taking the train. Can he do this with a federal warrant?

Any help is greatly appreciated.

Re: Traveling While AWOL

If there is a local military facility he should turn himself in there. That will stop the clock running on the AWOL and the military will provide transport back to Sill.

It is vital that he turn himself in, rather than be picked up, because it shows accountability for his actions. He could even go to a US Army National Guard or Reserve Unit to turn himself back in.

Be proud of your friend for doing the right thing.
