Legal Question in Personal Injury in Wisconsin
automobile liability
If I retain ownership of an automobile while lending or leasing it to a friend, am I liable for damage or injury caused by the auto while used by my friend?
How can I protect myself from liability?

Re: automobile liability
Yes you will be responsible as owner of the vehicle. I am unaware of how you as the owner can escape liability if your friend causes damage by using the vehicle you own. The state wants owners to be responsible for their vehicles.

Please be aware that my answer is not legal advice, it is merely information. You and I have not entered into an attorney/client relationship. The only way that I am legally responsible for your legal rights is if you have signed a written retainer agreement with my law firm.
