Legal Question in Personal Injury in Wisconsin

I have moved from Wisconsin to Oklahoma but just received in my forwarded mail a summons to appear in court for an old medical bill from 2015 for $650 plus attorney fees & taxes bringing it to $863.38

I am a single income mom with my daughter who was on Badger care when I left and now unemployed looking for work here?

What happens since I cannot appear in person for this court date?

If you do nothing to defend yourself, a default judgment would be granted in the amount demanded. You will then get some financial disclosure forms, regarding which which you must cooperate or face possible contempt of court (or even jail). If you are not working and have no bank accounts or other assets, however, there may not be much else that they can do to you until you get a job or some assets, at which time they might try to go after your wages or other assets. A bankruptcy would end all this once you have something to lose. Before then, however, it may not be worth the expense of even filing one.
