Legal Question in Personal Injury in Wisconsin
Sexual Assault
I have a friend who has contacted me and has wanted me to try to find out if she has any rights or recourse to a childhood wrong done to her. This involves the Archdiose of Milwaukee out of Grafton Wisconsin and sexual abuse of herself and some of her girlfriends as children. I am not familiar particularly with Wisconsin law. I studied for my Paralegal degree in Arizona if you can help I would really be grateful.

Re: Sexual Assault
These are really tough cases. There are attorneys who specialize in such cases, unfortunately, I'm not one of them. I would call one of the big personal injury firms in Milwuakee such as Gray & End law firm, Habish law firm. If they can't help, they will know who can.
I have made no further investigation into the merits of your case and express no opinion as to whether there are other aspects to your case that may render it a viable case to pursue. Any advice or opinions given in this reply is preliminary only and not based on a thorough analysis. Accordingly, you should not rely on my comments, but seek the advice of another lawyer if you want a full analysis of your case at the present time. Should you decide to seek the advice of another lawyer, I suggest you do so immediately.
Legal deadlines such as the statute of limitations may exist which, if not adhered to, could completely bar pursuit of your case.
Re: Sexual Assault
Besides Mr Lightfoot's suggestions, I would recommend your friends talk with the District Attorney in Milwaukee County. Although the statute of limitations may have run on your friends' cases, the investigations and results thereof may help many others that may still be facing the same criminals involved in your freinds' attacks. The DA may also suggest if there is any civil recourse, as well.
Re: Sexual Assault
Unfortunately, I would not handle this case, but since the incident was in Grafton, the victims may instead wish to consult with the Ozaukee County D.A. and Bar Association.
Re: Sexual Assault
It is my opinion, without doing additional research, that the statute of limitations may have run so as to prevent your friend from still pursuing the possible claim for any injuries. I do know that there are some local "support" groups who are attempting to get some agreements with the Archdiocese to allow mediation of claims for damages even if statute of limitations may have run on thier claims. Your friend might want to contact one of these groups. If your friend has not already contacted the District Attorney's office in Ozaukee County, if the incidents occurred in Ozaukee County, or the County District Attorney Office in the County where the incidents occurred, she should do so in that there may still be criminal charges that can be brought against the perpretator. If you have any further questions, feel free to contact me.
