Legal Question in Personal Injury in Wisconsin

Tortious Interference

I am a professor involved in dispute with another

professor. This person submitted a performance

review of me which was quite slanderous. There

were many incorrect facts and statements which I

can prove to be false. I short I can prove that he

willfully lied about me with the intent to get me

fired which he did. Does this interference into a

matter over which he did not have direct control

fall under the purvue of tortious interference. By

interjecting falsehoods into what other wise would

have been an ordinary contractual relationship

with the university he cause me damage. Is the

just slander (or libel) or is it tortious interference

Re: Tortious Interference

Although your case is not the type of case I typically handle, I believe that you probably do have a meritorious claim against the professor if the facts contained in your question can be proved. The big issue, in my opinion, will be whether you will be able to prove that the professor intentionally gave information about you that the professor knew to be false.
