Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Wisconsin

Is the lease i signed legal

I recently signed a lease with a person that is in the process of buying the house we signed to lease. This person still does not own the house is there a way to get out of the lease. We have paid security deposit and first months rent and have lived there for a week. Can someone who does not yet own the property sign a lease that will hold up in court?

Hello, sorry for the delay. I hope this is not late. In general, you can't lease property you do not own. Tell that to the other party. If they agree and let you out, it is done. If they disagree, ask a lawyer to do some quick research and look further at your facts, and give you a final opinion. Best wishes, Mark J. Mahoney
