Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Wisconsin

We have a piece of property. our friends built an overhang above their 5th wheel camper. We would like the camper and overhang off our property. How much time are we legally required to give them to dismantle and remove their structure.

Also, Is it considered a permant stucture? Can we tell them if they do not remove it then we will lay claim to it. (we don't really want it but just want to know if that is the law)

You should immediately consult with an experienced real estate attorney who can research the statute of limitations on this type of encroachment. Different responses to the situation can have unpredictable impact upon the statute of limitations for you to get your land back, such as, for example, whether or not the adverse possession is "hostile, open and notorious." A letter from the lawyer may convince them to move it. Failing that, your local police department may be willing to mediate the situation for you. However, I may be able to formally represent you if you contact my Racine office and make arrangements to retain me. I also represent clients throughout WI.
