Legal Question in Real Estate Law in Wisconsin
Property division dispute.
Dad died. Left house and land to 7 kids. 4 kids decided they want the front part of the land and want to put up apartments. They told the other 3 they now own the back part of the land which is open field. The front part of the land has water/sewer, house, 2 garages. Can they just divide the land up and tell everybody this is your piece?

There should be a personal representative, if this is still in the estate. The will would say what to do and the personal representative carries it out. If the estate is closed and the 7 already own the property, majority doesn't rule unless the group has enterred into an agreement making it that way. One way out would be to partition the property. That is a legal proceeding. Perhaps it is time for you to consider seeing an attorney.
