Legal Question in Traffic Law in Wisconsin
Boyfriend unlicensed in accident not his fault
Hi!
My boyfriend was just in an accident and is unlicensed. The accident was not his fault and determined that by the police. Is the other driver liable financially for vehicle damage and medical bills? What are the ramifications to being unlicensed in this instance?

Boyfriend Unlicensed in Accident (Not at Fault)
Whether or not a driver is licensed has no effect upon his liability (or lack of it) to other injured parties, although he may be charged criminally in a totally unrelated proceeding. The two cases should go through the system without regard to one another. Simply being unlicensed does not create liability to an injured private party in WI as far as I know, unless the driver was otherwise at fault.
